Bashundhara Group’s assistance: 26 devotees leave Dhaka to perform umrah

A total of 26 devotees left Dhaka on Sunday night to perform umrah in Saudi Arabia with the financial assistance of Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir.

In the last Ramadan, Anvir, also the chief adviser to the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Musalli Committee, pledged to send 104 devotees to perform umrah.

“Musalli Committee Chief Adviser Sayem Sobhan Anvir has expressed his desire to send insolvent devotees to perform umrah. 26 pilgrims are leaving today (Sunday) for Saudi Arabia,” Gulzar Ahmed, senior Vice-President of Musalli Committee, told a meeting at Baitul Mukarram in the capital on Sunday.

The rest of the devotees will go to perform umrah by next January, he said.

He said that the Bashundhara Group MD also supported month-long iftar programme at the national mosque from his own fund.

Musalli Committee former President Enamul Haque Khan, incumbent President Eakub Ali, General Secretary Mizanur Rahman Manik, Organising Secretary Nasir Uddin Gazi and Joint Secretary Shah Alam Mintu were also present on the occasion.

They later prayed for a long and healthy life of the Bashundhara Group MD and his family members and prosperity of his company after performing Zuhr prayers.

Pesh Imam Maulana Mohiuddin Kasem conducted the prayer while Musalli Committee members handed over some gifts, including Punjabi and Tasbi, to the devotees.

Before leaving the country, the pilgrims called on Sayem Sobhan Anvir at his residence in the capital.
