Bashundhara Group Provides 25,000 Masks For Cops

Bashundhara Group on Saturday provided 25,000 facial masks to Dhaka Metropolitan Police for the safety of its members, who are playing the frontline role to combat novel coronavirus outbreak.

Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir and Vice-Chairman Safwan Sobhan Tasvir jointly handed over the safety equipment to Dhaka Metropolitan Police North Traffic Division’s Deputy Police Commissioner Md Saiful Hoque at the latter’s office in the capital.

After handing over the safety equipment, Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir said the police personnel in traffic management department play frontline role beyond any calamity or other national emergency.
“Members of the law enforcement agency are contributing to the country though they are at risk of the virus infection. To maintain discipline in road transport as well as keeping social security, they are working hard round the clock,” he said.

Sayem Sobhan also assured the police officials to extend support from the business conglomerate for the well-being of the members of the law enforcement agency.

Expressing gratitude to the Bashundhara Group, Deputy Commissioner Md Saiful Hoque said the safety equipment will help to protect them in maintaining social distancing and controlling the transportation system during the emergency period.

Earlier on Wednesday, Bashundhara Group provided 1,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and 50,000 masks to the Directorate General of Medical Service (DGMS).

Bashundhara Group also donated Tk 100 million to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. Besides, the business conglomerate is going to establish a 5,000-bed hospital for the treatment of corona infected patients in the country.
