Bashundhara Group Donates Tk 20 Lakh To Newspaper Hawkers

The Bashundhara Group, country’s leading business conglomerate, now extended its financial assistance to hawkers who reach newspapers to the doorsteps of the readers.

On Tuesday, Bashundhara Group gave Taka 20 lakh to four organizations of newspaper sellers to help them overcome the financial hardships caused by the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.

Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir on Tuesday morning handed over the cheque for the donated money to Md. Abul Kalam, Circulation manager of Dhaka Newspaper Hawkers’ Multipurpose Cooperative Associations and Md. Sahabuddin, general secretary of Newspaper Hawkers’ Welfare Multipurpose Cooperative Society.
The cheque handover event was held at the Bashundhara Industrial Headquarters-1 in Bashundhara Residential area in the capital.

Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Secretary-General Shaban Mahmud, heads of marketing department of Bangladesh Pratidin, Kaler Kantha, Daily Sun and leaders of Hawkers Association were present at the event.

Sayem Sobhan Anvir wished Eid Mubarak to all newspaper hawkers while distributing the cheques.

Earlier, Bashundhara Group provided food items to 2,000 newspaper hawkers.

The country’s largest business conglomerate has continued food support to the underprivileged people who have become workless following the spread of coronavirus in the country.

As part of corporate social responsibility, officials and volunteers of the group went door-to-door and distributed combo packets of food among the poor people across the country.
